Restaurants & Bars

Hello. We will be traveling with my 10-year old to Spain this month. When we travel, we love eating at places serving great local wines and authentic food or great contemporary takes on classic dishes. On our trip, we are looking for restaurants or tapas bars that are appropriate for a family. Our kid is well-behaved and eats out with us regularly, but we don’t think an extended (2.5-hour plus) set tasting menu or molecular gastronomy restaurant will work out. Our thinking is to focus on lunch for larger, sit-down meals (raciones), and to have tapas for dinner. However, we are definitely open to other suggestions or strategies.

As for budgets, we are open to a range of prices. Our kid doesn’t eat seafood (but we love it), so any seafood-only places would be out. Do you have any recommendations in the cities we are visiting? Also, do you have a sense of how acceptable it is to ask for something off the menu for a child in Spain? For instance, in Italy, it’s not a problem in my experience, but in France, my experience is that it’s usually not acceptable and kids eat what adults eat. We are fine either way, but if it’s acceptable, it gives us a lot more leeway. Thanks!
