BCD Tofu House on Wilshire

I had dinner at BCD Tofu House on Wilshire. It was very busy. It was like eating in a factory, with waiters constantly rushing past my table to perform one operation or another on my food. I ordered the BBQ Pork and Soon Tofu combination (almost the whole menu is either tofu or BBQ or both). Soon afterward a waiter rushed past my table to drop off a small bowl containing an egg. I figured that it must be a hard-boiled egg as a panchan, so I started shelling it, only to discover that it was raw. Then another waiter rushed past to drop off a stone bowl of rice. Then some panchan start arriving -- they turn out to be good not great. I start watching the guy next to me to figure out what I'm going to do with the egg. At length he receives his stone bowl of boiling spicy tofu and proceeds to break his egg into it. Aha. Then I receive my own bowl of boiling spicy tofu and proceed to do the same. The tofu turns out to be very good, if you don't mind the fact that, courtesy of the red-hot stone bowl, it is indistinguisable from napalm. Then another waiter rushes by to deliver my BBQ Pork, and yet another waiter rushes by to spoon out the rice from its stone bowl into one of two metal bowls. The BBQ Pork turns out to be good but not great, with parts of it overcooked. At length another waiter rushes by to pour water into the stone bowl that used to have rice in it. I eat for a while. As I'm almost done, yet another waiter rushes by to scrape the last rice from the rice stone bowl into the water and then empty the water and rice into a second metal bowl. I infer that this is to be eaten last. It's kind of soothing after all of the spicy food but mostly it's bland. The whole dinner took about four minutes, or seemed to.
