Had to go to a bank in Sanford. While there, I got the Yellow Pages and scanned through the restaurant section for an interesting independent place for lunch. One of my two choices was the BBQ Rib Ranch on South French Street in Sanford.
When I pulled up, the place looked like a run down old drive-in with no cars. The sign said open and I saw the smoke rising from their roof. What the heck! You'd have to be suspicious of a fancy BBQ place anyway, wouldn't you?
In the parking lot were tons of hardwood logs. So, I had to believe I came to the right place. Inside, the place had formica tables and red vinyl chairs - it was immaculate and organized.
I heard the recognizable chopping sound of somebody preparing a pork plate (Leroy - seriously) and asked the lone customer in the place how the "Q" was. He said it was the best he's eaten in Central Florida and I have to agree with him.
I took his advice and ordered the regular size chopped pork plate dinner. Hounds, there was a ton of high quality, moist and well smoked pork on a dinner place along with homemade crackling corn bread, homemade baked beans and a commercial slaw. I could barely finish it all at $5.25! Its well worth a visit.
