BBQ on the Island

After a couple of really, really bad meals at two local (local to me that is) bbq type joints, I am still convinced that this Islands inhabitants do not know how to make and serve bbq. At all.

I've been to bbq joints other than these two on the Island. Better, sure, but compared to these two? Not saying much.

First we got a strange trip at One Block East. After that unfortunate initial visit back when they first opened under the new name, I have successfully avoided this place until just recently. Not good guys. Not good. Brisket is marred by keeping in warmer oven to dehydrate until crumbling dry. What a shame to destroy brisket that way.
Everything else was aspiring to mediocre, at best.

Then they tell me we are going to Smokin' Al's.
Another place on my 'do not visit again' list.
Brisket inedible. Undercooked, tough, chewy.
Just horrible. Everything else was just as bad.
This place should close.
I hear their ads on the radio.
They should shut their doors.

Unmentionables, Big Daddy's, no matter how inconsistent, no matter how quirky the kitchen gets, is still higher up on the list...
And, again, that ain't sayin' much.
