BBQ & cobbler

Sandra W. | Jul 8, 2003 09:39 PM

After reading about Greece's I had a yearning for BBQ. Drove over there only to find out they're closed until tomorrow. (You're right about erratic hours). Couldn't give up the BBQ quest and decided to give Phillipe's on Crenshaw a try. They were closed too!

Turned the car around and thought I'd try Tasty-Q. I had their Q once before, the spicy sauce was too spicy and I didn't like it, but there have been some good posts. Thought I'd give it another try. Ordered pork ribs and sliced beef, mild. The beef was fair, sauce and smoke flavor good but didn't like the consistancy of the beef (a little like wet cardboard) and the meat itself lacked flavor. The pork ribs were another story. The ribs were huge, meaty, full of flavor. The mild sauce still had a little kick to it (I hate when I order mild and it's not mild, it's bland.) Perfection.

Now about that cobbler. Why didn't y'all (note the New York/southern accent) tell me that the Cobbler Lady who used to be on La Tijera moved to the 3800 block Crenshaw Blvd? Blackberry, peach, apple... bought a mini blackberry ..it was divine! Welcome home those 5 pounds it took me a month to lose.
