Ok. So I read a post by some Brit from like 7 years ago about BBQ in Asheville. I am not a Brit. I was raised and spent the vast majority of my 35 years in the heehaw parts of Florida, or Southern Georgia as some might call the northern swamps. So I'm aware of good Southeastern BBQ (I also dislike Texas BBQ like someone on that other thread). Here's my problem: I've been stuck in Ohio for 3 years and the BBQ Yankees make is just straight garbage. I mean awful. So I'm going on a trip farther south than I've been in years and I'm dying for sliced pork BBQ. Which I can tell from local menus around Asheville, isn't south enough to be on many menus. But I've seen it on one or two and I will certain drive a distance in my visit to find it. Fat Buddies in Waynesville seems promising if not spectacular. Of course, in the desert, you might drink the sand. So, while Western NC isn't the best BBQ location in NC, can any one hook me up with the lowdown. If it's a drive to Waynesville or Franklin or even back to Statesville, Morgantown or Hickory, I don't care. It just has to be sliced pork. Please help.
