We recently got back from Munich. I have a tiny amount of German reading ability and a little German/English menu guide, but still found Bavarian menus to be about 75% a mystery. A friend who spends quite a bit of time in Munich and is fairly fluent in German, laughed and said Bavarian was pretty much its own language -- quite different from "mainstream" German taught in most schools or books. So she wasn't at all surprised that I had problems figuring things out.
Anybody know of a guide that translates Bavarian food terms into English?
