Batterfish lunch

Read some good reviews for Butterfish, on the south side of Ventura Blvd. in Encino a bit west of Woodley. They are a small counter-order place where I was the only customer from before noon to 40 minutes later today (Saturday), though the very nice cook/server said they were very busy yesterday, Good Friday.

I ordered the cod, and the fish was extremely high-quality and well-cooked, flaky, juicy, no hint of cartilage or skin or nasty sections. The crust was light and a batter (not breadcrumbs) but wasn't particularly crisp. I asked if in the future I could request two thinner cuts -- thus more crust -- and was told I could. I liked the hot sauce. A LOT of house-cut fries (I ordered them well-done which is a necessity).

Lunch was satisfying and just over $10.

I'll be honest. I much prefer the much crisper batter-crust at F. Salt on Santa Monica Blvd. on the south side between Barrington and Bundy, in the El Pollo Loco minimall.
About $6 for the London special, two pieces of fish with a shattering crisp batter, a much smaller portion of adequate crinkle-cut frozen fries.
