Baskin Robbins: Chocolate Mousse Royale?

It was my favorite BR flavor. I haven't seen it in a couple of years and it's nowhere on BR's website, not even the "Deep Freeze" section. Has it been permanently discontinued in the US? The UK, Canada, Australian, and Malaysian BR websites all list it as a regular flavor.

My first job was scooping ice cream at a Baskin Robbins. I like the chocolate mousse royale too -- very deep chocolate flavor. I have no inside info -- back when I worked there single cones were 18 cents and doubles 30 -- but part of the reason may be that it is a difficult ice cream to keep firm. It has a slightly different mousse-like or whipped texture and often turns way too soft. While you can control a slight bit by where you place the container (putting it in a cold corner where the door doesn't open too often helps, but each freezer holds a dozen tubs) this only helps a bit.

gosh, i'd forgotten about this flavor... of course, i haven't been into BR in a long long time. when i was a kid, i used to get one scoop of mint chocolate chip and one of choc mousse royale in separate cups.

It is my all-time favorite also and I complain every time I go to the BR store - and there's generally at least one other person there who agrees with me. I've complained whenever BR sends me a survey. And I can't find it anywhere on the BR website either. What's going on? What can we do to get BR's attention and get this flavor back?

While that's a shame, I still find that the normal, everyday chocolate flavor that BR serves is my favorite ice cream flavor anywhere. Give me 2 *hard* scoops of that ambrosia on a sugar cone, and I swear, if I had cancer, it'd probably cure it.

I don't honestly remember CMR...and I try every chocolatey flavor they serve there, just in case. I probably wouldn't appreciate its texture as much as others here, as I like my ice cream as hard as a freaking *rock*, so that while I'm licking it down, it gets a *bit* softer as I go. I abhor soft, hand-dipped ice cream...it's an abomination. Really.

I've been searching for this ice cream myself...I think it may still come out in Sept. in the U.S>...see this website I found about it.

I am ecstatic to report that Haagen-Dazs Dark Chocolate Chip Gelato tastes JUST LIKE Baskin Robbins' extinct Chocolate Mousse Royale!!! RUN to your nearest grocery store and if they don't have it, demand (or ask very nicely) that the stock this product ASAP!!!

AS OF MAY 6, 2013 THE BR FB page posted a photo (of two scoops in a cone) to their timeline (click the above link) that states--- "Flavor Team-Up: What would you name a double scoop of Icing on the Cake® and Chocolate Mousse Royale?" 

MAYBE THIS MEANS THAT THEY WILL BE BRINGING CHOC. MOUSSE ROYALE BACK VERY, VERY, SOON FOR AN ENCORE!!!!!
