Basil's in Barre, VT

I keep forgetting to post about this place. I've eaten there several times, and gotten take out as well. Right now they have the best pizza in Barre (though, really, that's not saying much, this IS still Vermont, not NYC ;). You can get -spicy- Italian sausage on your pizza, which is great! No other place in town has spicy Italian sausage, only sweet.

They have a pretty large menu with no real theme to it, but it's fine. It's like a family restaurant. They make the soups from scratch, and they've been consistently yummy. Not everything is from scratch, but a surprising amount is. They make their own marinara.

Their prices are very reasonable and their portions are generous.

The atmosphere is family restaurantish. :) They play one of the country music stations, but I forgive them that because I like the food and the prices. The service is always warm and friendly and they're willing to answer questions. Some questions they know the answer to immediately, some they have to ask about.

This is not a fine dining experience, but it is decent, filling food for a very reasonable price. I wouldn't make a special trip into Barre to go here, but I certainly do go out of my way to stop for pizza or take out on my way home or if I'm out and about of a Saturday afternoon.

They're located on... oh what is that street called. The one that heads south and is technically Route 14, eventually heading into South Barre and Williamstown? There used to be a chinese place in the space they're in now, and there's a pharmacy in the same building. It's before the wonky K intersection over by Bamboo Garden (which is another decent pace to eat).
