bartenders who save the day

I feel obliged to post this following last night's collapse into Pete's.

I had waited too late, as usual, and found Ciudad dark (no great loss) and when I sat down at Engine Company (where I have been going because I discovered they have carpaccio and cannot comment on anything else on the menu) the bartender handed me the menu reluctantly and when I asked if they were still serving responded, yes if you can order quick (I declined)--

so I phoned to see if Ranz was on at Pete's and he was, and he listened to my complaints and made sure of the anchovies and generally reminded me of how important responsible, caring service is and how far it can go to compensate for other shortcomings. So I want to nominate Ranz for a great bartender award. He is at Pete's on Mondays and Fridays and now also works at the new O-Bar on other nights.

Other nominees: Tim at Joe's; Larry and shoot if I have forgotten his newly blond name at AOC; departed, lamented Seth at Lucques; Bobbie at Water Grill.

I hope it's ok to post this on the LA board; as a bar diner these individuals are paramount to my enjoyment of a meal so despite their association with drink (not about food?) I think they deserve local recognition and promotion. Maybe especially so, inasmuch as they are expected to cater to demanding diners even though this is not really their main job. Plus I am keen to learn others' recommendations in this category.
