BARRIO CHINO: nice tequila selection on broome street

yeah ok so we read about this place on dailycandy like anyone else but we bit.

BARRIO CHINO, at least early in the evening, is a new low key tequila bar that will fill all your downtown fine tequila needs. the large tequila menu ranges in price from $6-$20+ per shot.

however, you get much more than a mere shot. its served on a tray with a side of sangre(?), a bloody mary type tasting mix of tomato, horseradish, wine and a slice of lime. you also get a few slices of cayenne-spiced jicama and mango all to chase your tequila down with. when you try it you will never go back to lime/salt or neat. i had an anjeo commemirativo ($10) which is as smooth as milk.

barrio chino, 253 broome street, between orchard and ludlow streets

ps--we went to HAPPY ENDING down the street afterwards for a final nightcap---avoid that place it sucks.
