Barolo for $2.99 (375ml) at The Bargain Bank

The Bargain Bank (566 Minnesota, south of Mariposa, SF) has the best wine inventory I have seen there in some time. The most intriguing item currently in stock is the Costa Di Bussia 1997 Barolo they are selling for $2.99 in half-bottles. The BevMo website has them selling the 1998 Costa Di Bussia Barolo in 750ml bottles for about $30. 1997 was a good vintage for Barolo.

I have tried the 1997. It is more than adequate and is fully mature. It can use at least 30-60 minutes to breathe. Barolo is not a soft, fruity wine and it is a bit of a challenge. Here is a chance to sample some on the cheap!

For the more adventuresome, The Bargain Bank also is selling a Livio Pavese 1991 Barbaresco Riserva for $3.99. Pay your money and take your chances!
