Barney Greengrass

Had lunch today at the restaurant in Barney's department store in Beverly Hills. Had appetizer combo. of Sturgeon and Sable with an onion bagel. Sturgeon was subtle and delicate while the Sable was more full flavored and oilier (in a good way). Bagel was really fresh but also flown in from New York. Wife had the Sicilian Egg Salad Sandwich with Potato Salad. I tried the Potato Salad and it was good, very similar to a really good homemade New Potato Salad. It was quite an extravagance at almost $40.00 (after tip) but it was the highest quality. Even the lavosh and breadsticks tasted very homemade. Service was excellent, the combination of fish I wanted was not on the menu but it was brought to me without hesitation. It is worth the trip just to check out the various items in the glass deli case.
