Bargain Cuban In Gainesville

I'm new to this board and I just wanted to post my thoughts on a great little cuban find in Gainesville. Mi Apá Latin Cafe is real bargain for the money. My wife and I went to the movies a few weeks ago and we did not feel like fighting the crowds at Ballyhoo or Stonewood Tavern. Mi Apá is just up the street at the corner of University and 34th. It's in the old KFC drive through. It's been there for a while so we thought we would give it a try. They offer indoor and limited outdoor seating as well as takeout. The menu is simple latin fare with generous portions. The food was fantastic Most dinners include a meat or poultry dish served with white rice and a side for under six bucks! The first time there I ordered grilled chicken with black beans and rice and my wife had grilled steak with Yuca and rice. We had so much food we took half of it home and had it for lunch the next day. Our bill was under $15.00.

We liked it so much we made it a destination ride on our Harley for dinner last Friday night. We shared a grilled chicken plate, ordered two salads and two fantastic tamales.

If you are in Gainesville and you are looking for cheap cuban eats, check it out!
