We're heading to Barcelona for a short break in early December and we're looking for some recommendations for dinner. I would also normally include lunch but we haven't settled on our sightseeing schedule so we'll just have to wing it.
So, here's my problem -- my head is about to explode from all the recommendations I'm reading in various posts. I could easily make a list of over 50 places but we only have 3 nights!!
Here's my thought process --- we live in a big city in the U.S. and we're not traveling to Barcelona to have Mexican food, Italian food, Asian cuisine, BBQ, etc. I can get that stuff within 25 miles of home. We want to try to experience the best of Catalan cuisine, the best tapas and the best gastronomic dining. However, price is somewhat of an issue so we probably will refrain from the likes of Distfrutar but if we could find something somewhat similar that would be great.
Anyway, the only reservation I currently have is at Teoric but my only concern is the relatively limited menu. That being said, I'm also hearing great things about Mont Bar, Capet, Mano Rota, etc. Maybe I'm wrong, but I'm hoping one of these places checks off the box for Catalan cuisine.
As for tapas, we're thinking of a tour with Aborigens but Bar Canate is near our hotel and that seems to have gotten good reviews here.
As for "a poor man's" Distrutar, I'm open to suggestions. I'm not one to take pictures of my food, but I sure would like to experience a restaurant where the food is art. (And it would be nice if it tasted good, also.)
Finally, one of the nights in question is a Sunday and I'm a little concerned about finding something for that night. Any thoughts that wouldn't be to touristy, would be great.
Thanks in advance!
