BARBUTO review

another nice night at BARBUTO, an open to the outdoors nouveau italian on washington street in the west village, right next door to TORTILLA FLATS.

for a starter we split a greens salad with purple onions and the very best yellow/orange/red-ish baby beets i have ever eaten. yay for seasonal summer beets!

for mains she had a greens slad with crabmeat, peas, mint and pecorino. delicious, another strong very summery dish. i had braised pork belly w/ rhubarb compote. superbly done in their wood fire oven, get anything roasted up from that oven it's put to great use.

we also had a glass of wine each, she had some white and i had a red sardinian. mine was rich and had a great spicy finish, i'll have to go back and get the name!

total was $65. BARBUTO is still going strong and is a nice place for summer dining, not to mention a good bet for nearby, yet still avoiding, the meatpacking district crowds, which have been particularly horrible recently.
