Best BarBQue in Reno....not!

janet | Sep 25, 200307:00 PM     3

OK, I've noticed this new place advertising the Best BarBQue in Reno for a month or so....I'm blanking on the name but its in a former fast-food place on the Northeast corner of Kietzke and Moana (towards Gentry)....used to house a Popeye's chicken and then was some chinese place....(behind Play it Again Sports).

Decided to try it today. Now admittedly I was hungry, and therefore cranky, but I managed to dislike the counter person right away (surly service, IMO). I ordered a chopped Barbque pork sandwich. The sandwich comes with one (small) side...and with a bottle of water and tax the total was over $7.50. Pricey for what you get, IMO. The sandwhich consisted of two pieces of thick white bread with some pretty gray-looking chopped up pork inbetween. (The pork tasted ok, but I doubt if any type of dry rub had ever touched it...more like roasted pork than Q.) It had about a teaspoonful of too-sweet sauce on it with none on the side. The side dish was a half ear of corn. (They had beans on the menu, but they didn't look good, and someone else there was ordering brussel sprouts which had to be heated up in the microwave.....). I didn't notice slaw as a choice.

Well, I suppose to be fair I should sample the ribs....but I just didn't get good karma from the place. No "Q" smell when you walk in if you know what I mean. I'll stick to BJs when I trek over to Sparks. Actually, Aunt Stickey's in Reno near Reno High isn't bad either (despite the name....)
