Barbara Ann's/Lem's

G Wiv | Apr 27, 200303:05 AM

Had a midnight hankering for spare ribs, drove down to Lem's on 59th and State, much to my surprise it was closed. Oh No!

Yes, there is another Lem's, owned by the 59th street's cousin, but I prefer Barbara Ann's BBQ and Motel II on 76th and Cottage Grove to the 75th Street Lem's. Drove over to Barbara Ann's, Mack, the pit man, recognized me, you know you are BBQ obsessive when the pit man at 76th and Cottage Grove recognizes you. Barbara Ann was out of spares, but their links and tips are Fan F'n Tastic. The links especially, wide diameter, spicy, with a subtle sage flavor, very coarse texture.

Barbara Ann's BBQ is served with fries and, oddly, whole wheat bread, at least it was whole wheat tonight. I highly recommend the links at Barbara Ann's.

I sure hope my favorite Lem's on 59th didn't go out of business.

Very good links, good tips.
