Bar Crudo-most excellent tuna cubes

I went by Bar Crudo, which is on Bush St at Stockton (right next to the Tunnel Top bar). This opened a month of 2 ago and the small space (bar and a few stools and tables downstairs and a larger space upstairs, for maybe 20....it was being rented out last nite for a private event) is not claustrophobic.

The short "tapas" like menu focuses on a raw bar (about 6 oysters available w/standard accompaniments, the grand platteau looked like a very good deal at $65) and about 1/2 dozen different fish "crudos"....cubes of fish served simply and artfully on interesting plateware.

Anyway, all was nice and the wine by the glass selection interesting, but the reason for my post is the tuna crudo. The tuna was of such amazing quality and so perfectly seasoned (I remember serracha) that we had to order a 2nd to go, so that my friend, who owns another restaurant, could take it back to his chef and compare it against their own tuna tartare.

The cubes are a really refreshing twist on tartare. I highly recommend this spot for a pre dinner drink or a light meal and definitely try the tuna!
