At the risk of sounding like an over eager diner, I checked out both restaurants in this week's New York mag. Bar Carrera was great and definitely worth the money. The chorizo was the best I had in years and the place is unpretencious and easy going. The service was a little slow like they couldn't handle the newfound business after such a good review. Worth a visit.
Too bad I can't say the same for the Orchard which was spotty at best. I was disappointed becasue I love Apizz their sister restuarant. The flatbreads are nice and crispy and worth trying but everything else fell short. Wondering if this could be attributed the chef out in the dining room flirting with women all night instead of cooking. Hey man, you're not Rocco, get back in the kitchen!! Also this place is byob so don't forget to bring a nice bottle of Pinot Noir, you'll need it.
