baptist church cafeteria - 16th and fitzwater

hi for all you soul food (southern food) fans out there, i just wanted to mention a place i like a lot, but no one ever talks about. it's in the baptist church on the corner of 16th and fitzwater (i forget the actual name of the church, sorry). anyway it's only open from 4:00 till 8:30 each evening, but it has excellent, lovingly prepared food at a very reasonable price. they have a standard menu which includes: fried/baked chicken (made to order), meatloaf (really good), ribs (two kinds), fried fish and such. wonderful sides like mac and cheese (the best around), candied sweets, collard greens, potato salad, etc... and each night of the week, they have a special as well.

i have been going there off and on for a few years, and honestly, the food is always outstanding. platers (two generous sides and cornbread) are like 6 or 7 bucks. service is cafeteria style and a bit slow, but very warm and nice. go hungry you won't be sorry.
