Bao Wow ! : Life in the Dumpling World of Cara Stadler

I was sooo disappointed by our Honey Paw food Thurs. night that I wanted to make sure we had stellar food for our last dinner, so we returned to Bao Bao and had consistently fantastic food in an early-dinner packed Friday night full- house of happy campers.
Highlights (all but one dish):
Curried Beef Pan fried Dumplings - I could easily live on these
Shrimp and Bacon Pan fried Dumplings- and these
Asian Slaw- there's a reason every single diner orders this
Smashed Cukes- sooo refreshing, soooo crunchy! w/o super saltiness
Bang Bang Chicken- not hot spicy which was fine for us. Very generous portion of protein in a sesame or peanut paste
Winter Squash Creme Brulee- so simple but so perfect
Chocolate Mousse w/ Coffee Crunch topping-- actually the single best choc mousse I have ever had. Ever. Honest. Something about the coffee crunchy coating....
Sesame Balls filled with Peanut Butter - hot crunchy on the outside, chewy inside and warm sweet peanut butter core; soooo wicked :-)

Just Not Tasty:
Ginger Caramel Mousse (yep, sounds great but was just weird; I couldn't figure out why.)

* I should mention that we had had, on a previous trip, a few dishes we hadn't cared for, so we were able to avoid those this time ( steamed oyster; tofu shiitake dumpling)

Odd but V Interesting Drink:
Pho- Jito (pho-spiced infused rum, Thai Lime Shrub:
Lime, Mint, Thai Basil, Cilantro) I enjoyed the cleverness with words, and I love all these herbs but there was just something off with this drink.

Loooove this room. The décor is so cool! This time I sat across from the copper wall -dragon, and I reaiized that the slowly pulsating lighting behind it- was giving the illusion of its puffing!!
