Anyone been to Bao Noodles at 23rd st. I wanted to try them but didn't see any info for them listed here. Would appreciate some tips.

Here is my experience at Bao 111. I went to Bao in the east village a few weeks ago for the first time. I liked the atmosphere alot. A good jazz band on sunday night. The cocktails were great, but expensive. The appetizers looked nice, but they were not very impressive tasting. Had the squid stuffed with shrimp, the coconut shrimp, and grilled short rib, the rib was the best of the bunch. The others were bland, and the shrimp pretty small. Much better coconut shrimp at Martha's in Hollywood, Florida. (the only thing they know how to make great there).

Main courses we chose, shrimp curry and mignonette. Both prepared very well, and this time lots of shrimp. Both were really excellent. But, I must say the curry at Sripraphai is just as good, and half the price, but frankly the flavor was very similiar to Thai. Since I know little about vietnamese food, not sure what this means.

Dessert was overpriced, and not too exciting. Flan which had no flavor, and rice pudding which was okay if you really like rice pudding.
