Banquet success at Shi-Lin in Bellevue

I need to let everyone know of the great success we had hosting a banquet for 40 at Shi-Lin in Bellevue (NE 8th, just east of Crossroads). We made about half-a-dozen excursions there over a couple of months in order to decide from a few choices within each of the many courses. Several of the dishes on the banquet menu are not on the regular restaurant menu, and some require advanced notification for preparation. As we found out, the names and descriptions offered on the banquet menu probably are insufficient for anyone not intimate with Chinese cuisines. One of the possible dishes was rejected out-of-hand by my wife from the moment we first looked at the banquet menu. However, it was given a try on one of our outings and everyone, including my wife, loved it. Dessert was the only course with which we couldn't come to terms from the traditional choices that were offered. They substituted a great, crowd pleasing dessert without a problem.

Their banquet room held our party comfortably at four round tables. The food was excellent, the presentation was beautiful, the service was personal and attentive, and the amount of food was astounding. Guests from each coast (sophisticated foodies and seasoned travelers) were overwhelmed with delight by our dining experience, as were less experienced diners from throughout the country.

The resaturant also has a very active bar (with karaoke on some nights). Smoke intrusion from the bar into the banquet room would be impossible, but the restrooms are never sparkling when the bar is hopping.

Their operation is small, and language differences can impede the planning process, but we offer a strong recommendation for the banquet services (and the regular menu) at Shi-Lin in Bellevue.
