Banh Mi and Jury Duty

Karen | Sep 18, 200211:38 PM

Well the feds caught up with me. I had to report to 450 Golden Gate for federal district court jury duty this morning at 7:45 am. I left Menlo Park at 6:30 am armed with print-outs from this board about banh mi sandwich places near 450 Golden Gate. Thank you to all of you who have posted about where to get these delicious sandwiches. They finally let us go at 2 pm and I made a bee line for Vietnam Sandwiches, 426 Larkin. Following suggestions made by Tida and others, I got the combo pork, pork meatball and bbq chicken with everything on them and one of the desserts of tapioca with bananas and water chestnuts. The proprietor is very efficient, turning out the sandwiches in about 2 minutes flat. She keeps the line moving always with a smile. Jumped in the car and took off for South City where husband was working on a paint job. Shared sandwiches, enjoyed them very much. Agree with other posts that the combo pork and meatball are better than the chicken. The contrasts of the flavorful meats with the shredded carrot, cilantro and slices of hot raw jalapeno pepper was just great. We're so full that dinner tonight consisted of some watermelon! We're sad that there aren't any banh mi places near our neighborhood... Now I have to keep calling the court every night for a month to see if I have to report again. The only good thing about it would be the proximity of banh mi!!!
