It's summer, the perfect time for banh mi and bubble tea. Picked some up this weekend at Song Que (next door to Huong Que) in Eden Center (7 Corners, VA). It's a small, clean, user-friendly Vietnamese sandwich and drink shop with some produce and other Vietnamese snacks and goodies for sale. 8 different types of banh mi. was conservative and stuck with the grilled pork (banh mi #8) and the house-braised ham banh mi, which was very fatty but delicious. both in a crusty french roll, with carrots, daikon, cucumber, jalapeno, cilantro, fish sauce and a mustard-like yellow sauce. For $2 each, a chowhound delight! They have bubble coffee, thai iced tea, and various fruit juices like melon, mango, strawberry, etc. Perfect as take-out for a picnic (there are only 3 tables in the restaurant).
