We ate here for lunch on Sun 7/8/07. After sitting down we got the menus to look at plus a pot of tea. Had to ask for ice water which we then got.
I love banh cuon and wanted to try it here. Only problem is they have 3 kinds of banh cuon and I couldn't pick the one I liked. I got #8 Banh Cuon Bi (4 Cuon) for $6.25-mixed sliced pork wrapped in flour sheet. It looked like shredded pork and something else wrapped around like a fresh roll.
I want to ask them if they can make banh cuon cha lua-the dish I had a Thanh Thanh in Newark. I love that dish there.
#19 Banh Beo Bi Tom Chay $5.95-baby steam rice cake w/ shredded pork & ground shrimp. These were ok. Not much flavor but they have a pint of fish sauce that you can use for dipping. Best to add hot sauce to it too.
Last dish was:
Com Bi Cha Thit Nuong-$6.45-rice plate w/ mixed pork, pork egg cake, bbq pork. It was ok, comes w/ one bowl of soup.
I saw another table get Vietnamese ice coffee. The restaurant pre-makes it for you. Glad I didn't get one.
Total w/ tax was a little over $20 (before tip).
Cash Only. Cross st: Webster.
This is restaurant #9. There is a Banh Cuon Tay Ho 8 in SJ.
