There's a new Afghani restaurant in Issaquah (Gilman Village). Bamiyan, with a beautiful sign out front. Friendly service and nice comfy tables, cozy atmosphere. We had dinner there, and it was very dark, mostly candlelight, I suppose dark dinner is the custom in Islam (I say that because Meditteranean Grill, Lebanese, is the same dark). The food was priced similar to Meditteranean Grill, like $15 or $18 for a plate. Some unique Afghani dishes, and the flavor was good, fresh, interesting. I couldn't help but compare it to Meditteranean Grill because the menu items and atmosphere seem to be similar, but at Bamiyan you don't get a complementary bowl of soup to start and at Bamiyan the portions are not nearly as large. So I was happy with the food, but I felt that Meditteranean Grill offers larger portions and better food overall. Next time I have a craving for Islam food I'll probably go to Meditteranean Grill instead of Bamiyan, but I think Bamiyan might be worth a visit if you're interested in eating Afghani. FYI.
