Baltimore chowhound with Durham question

aubzamzam | Jul 17, 2004 11:03 AM

Folks, as someone who will be staying in Durham, NC for a night in early August, I have a lodging and dining question:

Where is a good place to stay that is walking distance to good eateries that are child-friendly? Would the downtown area be better, or are there places where I would be better off? We will be in the midst of a big roadtrip, so the walking thing is almost a must. Price is no object (within reason, i.e. it does not have to be $49.95 or anything like that). Dining recommendations are also highly appreciated, esp. for southern fare or BBQ, but not necessarily so (we will have had lunch at Henry's in Greenville, SC).

Thanks in advance for any tips you can provide!
