Just had a great meal at this Afghani place near the Ditmars subway stop (31st St and 23rd Ave, I think). My friend and I started with ashouk (sp?) which are these delicious herb stuffed dumplings, almost like tortellini. I could have eaten an entire plate of them. Very light and delicate with some yoghurt sauce on them. We then had sauteed slices of pumpkin which where in the same sauce as the dumplings. Also excellent. And a lamb kebab and ground beef kebab (I forget the names). The lamb was a liuttle over done, but very tasty. The ground beef was seasoned with spices that seemed like a perfect blend of middle eastern and indian spices (which makes sense given Afghanistan's geographic location). We also had sabzi, a spinach dish which was great, although a little oily. We ended with mint tea and a milky pudding that had some pistachio (also forget the name. I should have taken a menu). This all came to about $40. All in all, a great meal. Any other opinions out there?
