The Danish Pastry House has opened Iggy's old spot (205 Arlington St.) They're making breads, breakfast pastries, and desserts. They're not serving a lot of food yet, but will add more lunch items as they come up to speed. They're open 7 to 7 Mon. thru Fri., and 7 to 5 Sat. and Sun. Their phone number is 617-926-2747.
I've just been once, so I can only comment on a few of their items. The breads I sampled are good for sandwiches or toast. I tried rye, whole wheat, three grain, and my favorite, milk bread.
The owner was friendly and effusive. She explained the traditional Danish pastry-making techniques they use. She told me about the 40-foot long pastry table they use to roll out their puff pastry dough. She teased out my pastry likes and dislikes, then she gave me free samples of several pastries to take with me.
Now I have to stop by in the mornings to work my way through their sticky buns, danish, croissants, and other breakfast stuff.
They've crammed a lot baked goods into a small space. I hope they have commercial accounts. I can't imagine they'll sell enough through the storefront.
