Bakery on Grand - MPLS

Bakery of Grand, 3804 Grand Avenue S, should actually have two reviews - one for the take-out bakery items, and one for the sit-down restaurant.

I see great promise for both, and hope that all of us will post their own reviews here as a thread. (side note, I would like to really see reviews for all the bakeries of merit by our fellow 'hounds - hint hint.)

For take-out, I ordered a french rustic sourdough boule. A very fair price for this dense loaf - I believe they use whole wheat flour in this. Chewy crust, pretty loaf really, with a soft interior, slight sourdough taste. Good buy!

Apple custard tart - again good. Oddly, I noticed an eyelash in one of the other tarts, pointed it out to the staff. They removed the lash, yet left the tart in the case!

Almond brioche - a bit dry - ok ok.

Lemon bar - tasty, with a good tang.

Overall, I liked the bakery, although I wish they had more items for sale.

Now onwards to the second review at a later date....
