Wednesday's Marin newpaper restaurant column contained news of a change in the Marin Farmers Market's bakery offerings. The large bakery stand operated by the MFM which bought from a number of area bakeries and resold the items is being closed and individual bakers are having their own individual booths instead. Evidently many bakers were not happy with the previous stand-sharing & re-selling system. Of forty applicants the following dozen were chosen:
For Sunday's Market: Acme Breads from Berkeley; The Bagel Club from Fairfield; our own wonderful Brickmaiden Breads from Point Reyes Station; Crepe and Brioche from San Francisco; Ediths Gourmet from Modesto; La Patisserie from Hayward; Midnight Chocolates from Soquel; Pan-o-Rama from San Francisco; Room for Dessert, a new entrepreneur from Novato; Octoberfeast from Larkspur; Scullys from Novato; and Upper Crust Baking from Davis.
On Thursdays, the list features some of the above, along with Beckmans from Santa Cruz; Delicieux from Fairfax; Flower Chylde from Novato; Sweet Justice from San Rafael; and Vital Vittles from Berkeley.
I wonder if Chowhounds from these many locations have favorites or specific items to recommend. Any suggestions gratefully received.
