Driving south to Pismo Beach in May, we pulled off 101 at the Santa Margarita exit. I just wanted to drive through this small town because I'd never paid any attention to it before.
Doing a slow drag through the center of town, I noticed this sign set back from the street. We decided to see if it was open.
Inside, someone was making toffee brittle for bakery's signature cookie.
The Flagship Chocolate Chip Cookie (TM) is soft with a bit of chew and loaded down with semi-sweet chocolate, bittersweet chocolate and the made-right-there toffee. It's deservedly famous.
We also tried a snickerdoodle. These were very good and tender, but not as superlative as the ones baked by Bob's Well Bread in Los Alamos.
