Baja Grill in Huntington: Downhill Fast

SBP | Aug 7, 2003 02:55 PM

Reporting on the decline of an old favorite in Huntington, Long Island. Last 3 visits were very disappointing; I won't be going back. The food, which used to be fresh and inventive (calamari wrap with lime mayo, etc.)is being indifferently prepared.

Worst of all, the service has become abysmal. On one occassion, no one took our order for 20 minutes. Free refills on drinks was an illusion, since no one showed up to refill -- I finally went up to the counter and asked the cook for a refill. On another occassion, we couldn't get the waitress to bring extra salsa (mild for the kids)or our drinks. When she finally showed up, she claimed we hadn't ordered yet (we had). Last time my family went, we arrived at 2pm on Saturday -- so there were only 3 tables with customers to worry about -- and the wait staff was playing cards at a table!! That would have been Ok if they were still doing their jobs, but they weren't. Took too long to order, no refills, order was placed wrong.

I give up.
