Bahar Afghani

The Middle Eastern Businesses here in NYC have been hurting. They are Americans too, and they get death threats and no business.

So 2 days ago I was the only lunchtime customer at a Persian restaurant on E30th street.

Last night a friend and I started out heading for the new Turkish place we haven't been to yet, but wound up at an Afghani place called Bahar on Queens Blvd.

The mantoo (steamed beef dumplings)and bread were better than Khyber Pass (E.Village). Their kabobs (we had a variety) were a bit oversalted, and the rice (palow) is better at Khyber Pass as well. I still would go back since it is more convienient than Khyber Pass, but Khyber pass is better. I thought Bahar would be a dive, but it isn't.
