I am eating a baguette from La Columbe Fishtown and it's good. It made me wonder what other great baguettes are out there.
Here is a good old thread on baguette. Many of the places are in the suburbs. http://www.chowhound.com/post/baguett...
Has anyone else eaten at Petit Roti (gayborhood)? I think their baguette is great for their sandwich but I don't know if it would scratch anyone's baguette cravings. The crust is not very crusty. o.o (It is crispy though, iirc.)
Do they make it themselves?
Website, btw: http://www.petit-roti.com
It took a little digging around but yes, they did explicitly call it their "house baked baguette" once on their twitter (otherwise they just call it "freshly baked" which could go either way).
I think it's good, it just surprised me, but I haven't had a baguette in france before either (there were croissants to eat and all... I only had a day....)
I adore their bread - it's not what I would consider authentic, but it's fantastic. It's almost more like a long, skinny ciabatta.
