Stay away from this newly opened ' Buk Chong Dong Soon Tofu Korean Restaurant ' next to ' The Emperor ' at Bayview/Blackmoor, Richmond Hill!
Do not be deceived by the fact that the place is full on the weekend - Food is just plain LOUSY and BAD!!
Sad thing is, it was recommended by a couple of my wife's 'Korean' friends!
The seafood tofu soup I had this lunch time was easily the worst dish I have had this year! This was so pathetic and sad tasting, I could cry! Broth was one dimensional and beyond bland. The so called 'seafood' component comprised of two stingy and tiny, head-on cooked North Sea sweet shrimp. ( a bag of 24 costing around $3 ), one New Zealand mussel on the half shell and one oyster meat, the size of a dime! The rest was silken tofu, which, thankfully, was passable. At $9 for this dish, plus a bowl of stone pot brown rice! I estimate cost wise... $2 max?! Wow! great profit margin and huge rip-off!
Side dishes were mediocre and run-of-the-mill. Bulgogi Beef was sad looking and way too sweet! Service was down right slow! Our food arrived, pile up on a trolley next to our table and getting cold, but no one bother to serve us! When time for our bill, our waiter apologized for not writing our order down and asked us what we had, since he claimed he was too busy!
I was so tempted to tell him, just write down...' lousy food '!
For a restaurant to succeed, great location, food and service are of utmost important. Unfortunately, based on the obscure location, lousy food and ultra-slow service, I doubt they will last long!
Question?! With such mediocre food, how come they have so many branches scattered all around town?
