Bad Experience at the Blue Elephant/Prov

A friend went for brunch yesterday w/her mom and 2 sisters and all four said they'd never go back. Now keep in mind we were big fans of this place and really rooted for its success. We got the weekly dinner specials e-mail, had dinner there 3-4 times in a couple of months, etc. But there was always something "off".....odd service, a "meh" dinner or two. One night we were in this winter and the place was freezing, like maybe 58 degrees? NEITHER fireplace was working, we kept our coats on and had to ask for them to light a fire. They lit one log which threw off no heat. Little things like bad glassware for wine (they're byob which was part of the appeal for us), not bringing water, etc. But we persisted....we just really wanted it to work out.

Well, she went in yesterday, after sort of strong-arming her sisters into going (they were coming from central MA and didn't want to drive that far). They had all the usual snafus, no improvement (having to ask multiple times for condiments that never came, for ice for the room temp OJ) but then the final straw came at the end. A waiter we've seen in there on many occasions (young guy w/long dark hair) poked his head in the room, and w/out so much as an "excuse me ladies" said "you have to leave - we need that table". At that point who wants to stay? The mood has been ruined and you're done. But they've lost two regular customers.
