I have never been a particularly active poster on ChowHound. However, I am an avid, daily reader - and that means you have my "eyes on the page" when it comes to advertising. I assume that is valuable to you.
You lost some of my time on the site when you made the decision to eliminate the links to maps, etc. Drove me to Yelp where I could find restaurants by neighborhood, links to the restaurant's website, hours, and so forth.
I kept coming back to ChowHound, though, for the posts by contributors - you've a goldmine here, filled with incredible information, and I loved the links to the Saved Boards at the top of the page - everything I wanted was right there, one click away.
Now you've moved to the less user friendly "Drop Down" option - which means I need to add in an additional click AND I can no longer see all of my saved boards without yet an additional click.
Minor in the overall scheme of things? Maybe to you. But not to me.
You have managed to eliminate a great resource (the restaurant database) and made the site significantly less user friendly with this latest change to navigation.
Really, a bad call on your part.
And now I'm going to Yelp because I need to find a restaurant option in a particular neighborhood and can no longer do that here - and I can't even get to my local board without several clicks.
