Bad brunch at The Raymond Restaurant

tokyoastrogirl | Apr 3, 200604:36 PM

Yesterday my husband and I decided to go someplace new and ended up at The Raymond Restaurant for brunch. We were promptly seated in the patio and the coffee was delicious. It went downhill from there. We ordered the apple fritters to start and they looked promising- perfect rounds of fried dough sprinkled with powdered sugar. I ate one and tasted a bit of orange zest and nothing else. There wasn't an apple in sight. When we asked the waitress she said that the apples are chopped into tiny pieces so we may not notice the subtle apple flavor. Trust me, it was nonexistent.

My husband's The Raymond Scramble with chicken sausage, roasted red bell peppers and goat cheese just didn't taste good- it was OVERLOADED with goat cheese. My Scandanavian Eggs were so overly rich that I left most of it on my plate. It may have been that we just chose the wrong items, but after getting a $45.00 bill for brunch, I felt compelled to write this on hounds. There are fewer things more frustrating than to pay high prices for mediocre food. We see no reason to go back.
