Why am I such a bad baker?

I'm a pretty good cook. When I bake, everything just tastes like flour. I measure everything out properly and I follow recipes exactly and they still turn out bad. But when I use boxed mixes and such I am able to add my own things and they taste better. Maybe I just don't have the natural ability?
