Azucar Cafe, Camarillo (Puerto Rican)

Snackish | Oct 4, 200503:53 PM

Went to this pleasant little order-at-the-counter Puerto Rican & Mexican place for lunch yesterday.

The menu looks interesting with Puerto Rican entrees like Jibaro sandwich, Patitas de Cerdo, Arroz con Pollo, Pastellitos, Pollo Cubano, Pollo Criollo, Lechon Asado, Pasteles (tamales) etc. It is all under $10. They also have Mexican food - burritos, tacos etc.

I got a vegetable torta with sweet potato fries. The torta bread was wonderful and the sweet potato fries were nice, with crunchy salt crystals and pepper. Less than $5.

They have a salsa bar with some vinegary PR salsas as well as Mexican-style.

They also sell ice cream.

It is worth a look. At the corner of Mission Oaks and Woodcreek, in a plaza with Vons.
