Hired a caterer for our Dad's 80th Birthday last night - Chef Paul Buchanon of Primal Alchemy. Food & service were incredible - hors d' oeuvres of a large cheese board with at least 8 types of excellent unusual cheeses, a chutney, figs, home-smoked jalapeno & cumin salmon & wonderful breads. Served family style to tables of 8 - wonderful Southwestern Caesar with roasted peppers & pepitas, Wild Salmon in corn husk boats lying on a southwestern pesto with chile sause & crema dribbled over - so moist & delicious - wasn't a single one left!, Sweet Corn Pudding - light, sweet, whole corn kernals - had it again for breakfast & lunch - addicting!, Cumin black beans with Cotija cheese, roasted Vegetables that I've also had 2 servings of today! Piece de la resistance was Cinnamon Bread Pudding with Bittersweet Chocolate & Maker's Mark Hard Sauce - omg, I don't even like bread pudding & it was impossible not to finish every bite of it - crispy buttery corners, soft pudding - just amazingly delicious! With 2 chefs & 2 wait staff & rental of serving dishes & dinner service, it came to about $66 per person - they were there for hours setting up & the kitchen spotless & everything returned to it's place after the party.
Chef Paul mingled with the guests & spoke about the dinner afterwards (he was requested to) - very interesting. Totally relaxed & enjoyable party - they took all the stress away. Evidentally, he does the Emmys & some of the Oscar parties & also gives a lot back to the community in the form of educating elementary schoolers on shopping for & growing vegetables, eating healthy, basic cooking skills & lots more I've forgotten...
Anyway, if you need a great reasonable caterer, I highly recommend.
