AVOID Pinot Hollywood

We were there Friday night AT THE BAR to celebrate my friend's birthday. When we arrived, we ordered some little bites from the bar menu (fried calamari, chicken skewers, fries) and a bottle of wine. The food was typical bar food... nothing to call home about.

Last time I checked, restaurants shouldn't tax on tip. Isn't that illegal? Also, I've NEVER been to a BAR where they would charge you 18% for tip. We all had our own checks, and none of us had dinner. It was all drinks and bar food.

The service was horrible and rude. Once, when the waitress came by with a plate of food, instead of putting it down on the counter, she handed the food plate to me and expected me to pass it to whomever ordered it. I had told her that I didn't order it, and she said something like "Well, SOMEONE ordered it!" RUDE. She never came to check on us, to see if we needed anything else or if everything was to our satisfaction. BAD SERVICE. We had to practically hunt her down if we needed something.

We all came separately, and all at different times. Thus, some of the people left earlier, paid their checks, and left. We were one of the few to have left later.

We handed our credit card to the waitress when she came by... When we (my SO and I) got our check, we noticed that they had added on an 18% tip AND taxed on top of that total. We were understandably very angry and confronted our waitress about this. (Keep in mind that we were angry but never berated her or personally attacked her in any way) Then what happened was the real shocker... the BARTENDER PICKED A FIGHT!

He had said something like, "Don't take that tone of voice with her! I get off in an hour if you want to take this outside. You're a real F*****! A*!hole!" Then the manager had to come over and calm him down.

We were so angry and offended by the staff and service. It didn't matter if they fixed the check or not... it was just a couple bucks (but they sure do add up!), but the principle was what we were after. We just wanted to let them know that they had a real problem that needed to be fixed. Needless to say, they had ripped off all of our other friends who had already paid (and not noticed the mistakes) and left.

Some people even left an extra tip because the waitress NEVER said ANYTHING about a tip already added on (but that would be their fault for not reading their check carefully... but then again, who expects the tip to be added on AT A BAR?!). When the manager came over to take care of things, he was understanding of the situation but never apologized. Since our credit card had already gone through, we just left the check as it was, and left. We didn't bother to get our check fixed.

That place will NEVER see us again.
