Help us avoid a family feud! (Restaurant Recs., please)

OK, so DH's uncle's coming to town this weekend - in from Chicago. Uncle suggested a family meal at Durgin Park. DH and I aren't crazy about Durgin Park, and would like to suggest an equally fun, "Bostony" alternative. Here's the rub. DH's sister is extraordinarily unadventurous in the eating dept. and she will likely be accompanied by her 2 kids, our nieces, who love Olive Garden and its ilk. We suggested a couple of places in the North End (DH posted here last week - Mama Maria (Antico Forno is too loud for my MIL)) and also East Coast Grill (but they won't do a reservation on a Sat. night) and SIL says they "don't appeal," and are "inappropriate" for her kids. She suggests Skellig or Border Cafe in Burlington. We don't get babysitters to eat pub grub in the 'burbs, esp. w/an out of town guest. An impasse!

Needs to be reasonably casual, able to accommodate a party of 8 or so (preferably will take a reservation), prefer something down-town-ish - i.e., not Newton, Waltham, etc.

Other ideas? Can you feel the pressure mounting? Don't you WISH you could be there??

TIA
