Thanks to nooodles' recent post, I made an avocado milkshake for the first time last night. In the past, I have filled an avocado well up w/ sugar to eat as a dessert or snack, but never thought about an avocado shake before. Into my blender went one super ripe Haas avocado, Straus whole milk, sugar, tiny bit of vanilla extract, and ice. Result was creamy and luscious...
Today I had a flash to make avocado ice cream. Googled and was overwhelmed w/ all kinds of recipes. So went to Epicurious and found two recipes of interest. Linked the page w/ recipes...the gelato is the first recipe and the ice is 2nd to bottom. Gelato pic from May 2005 Gourmet is shown below. Enticing, eh?
Have any hounds tried making either of these recipes? I love the idea of gelato, but the cornstarch weirds me out and the Vitamin C tablet is a hindrance since I don't already have it in the house. The ice w/ lime sounds like a solid recipe. Any thoughts?
