Avocado Factoid

Gayla | Jan 8, 200303:59 PM

Heard this on the radio when I was out driving at lunch time.

5,000,000 (yes, million) pounds of avocados were destroyed in yesterdays near hurricane force windstorms. Any fruit on the ground can not be salvaged because most of it is in the Mexican Fruit Fly quarrantine zone.

Loosing 5,000,000 pounds of product is going to certainly put a dent in the supply pipeline. I wonder how quickly the price will go up and for how long.
