Last minute planning, and pure lack of energy to fight for parking downtown lead us to Bambara yesterday for their restaurant week dinner.
Host: Nice, accomodating. We left our number in case of any earlier cancellations and received one in five minutes (There were many empty tables when we arrived, despite assurances that they were solidly booked until 8:30pm)
Waiter: Male, snobby, with accent. Saw twice, once to hurriedly take order, very impatient in answering any questions, rush rush all around. Second time and only other time we saw him, we had to flag him down after waiting 10 or so minutes after desserts were cleared to ask for check(he was chatting with other servers, etc). Very cold in the restaurant. we were shivering in long sleeve shirts(no jackets though)
Servers: no smiles, but prompt and silent.
Food: Appetizers (we tried all but the spring greens) were o.k.
Main course (tried all but the lamb) Below average. good enough presentation. Ravioli was absolutely horrible. overcooked mushy, blend, with strange bitter taste. Really unappetizing. Scallops were better, but still below average, soggy batter. Pork chops were the best, probably average. Good portion though.
Desserts: tried all. Ice cream was worst, shortcake the best. Average to below average. Too rich and sweet. overdone.
Unsettled stomach and all, we were peeved to have paid $30.05 for this meal. Never again!
